I’m Facing the Dreadful Post-Holiday Blues, but These 3 Steps Helped Me Reset and Recharge

SSometimes all you need is a vacation after vacation, which is exactly what I experienced a few weeks ago while visiting my hometown of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This trip, to get your mind off the whole story, involved cramming nearly a year of seeing family and friends into just a few days. (Really visiting family? when considered a relaxing vacation? Ask a friend!)

Don’t get me wrong, there are few things that make me happier than spending quality time with my loved ones, as tiring as it can be. But in the spirit of honesty, I was incredibly relieved to have planned a quick getaway to Eau Palm Beach Resort and Spa, just a short drive north of Fort Lauderdale to end my return trip. home. The perfect time to shake off post-trip sadness and enjoy truly relaxing moments.

A soothing breath of fresh air

While visiting the resort (overlooking the pristine, clear waters of Manalapan, a beautiful small town in Palm Beach County), I had the opportunity to recharge and enjoy some much-needed time for me.

When describing Eau Palm Beach, they say it is an intimate beach retreat; a breath of fresh air, a chance to refresh and the perfect place to rediscover time, which couldn’t be more appropriate.

The hotel is located on a 7-acre beachfront property with a private beach overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Located on the East Coast, this means every morning is blessed with beautiful sunrises that slowly rise above the still, glassy ocean waters. On the horizon, you’ll see boaters crossing the sea or a dolphin flying by (if you’re lucky).

Honestly, I could spend all day being soothed by the small waves methodically lapping the shore from the many beachfront vantage points the hotel has: From my balcony room by Jonathan Adler design, the Club Lounge (which has some of the best *unlimited* chocolate chip cookies), or doing yoga on the lawn are some of my favorites. That said, I found the most peace when connecting with the beautiful outdoors while snorkeling just offshore with the snorkel gear I picked up from their poolside concession stand. The number of baby fish I saw was amazing and it really made me feel like a Florida kid again.

An opportunity to renew my soul

As a food writer, food is always on my mind, which is lucky because Eau Palm Beach has so many dining options. There’s a classic steakhouse, Angle; Bken, an intimate chef-led omakase experience; and Polpo, serving Italian cuisine.

Directions: Mix 1/4 cup peanut butter, 1/2 cup almond milk, ½ banana, 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed (omega-3), and 1/4 cup ice until smooth. and ice cream.

That said, sometimes the simplest dishes leave the most lasting impression. For me, this time, lunch at Polpo sealed the deal. Crab eggs benedict, a flight of *smoothies*, and a fruit platter with ripe mangoes (!) I say more? Of course, I won’t keep you waiting without a little taste of what they have to offer.

How to make an easy omega-3-rich banana breakfast smoothie that tastes like vacation

Here’s Eaus’s simple, nutrient-packed banana + PB smoothie recipe that will (I hope) make you feel like you’re basking in the Florida sunshine no matter the morning.

How to make: Mix 1/4 cup peanut butter, 1/2 cup almond milk, half a banana, a large spoonful of ground flax seeds (hi, omega), and 1/4 cup ice until creamy. .

Now, a tip I learned from the lovely team at Eau Palm Beach is why choose one flavor of smoothie, when you can have them all? So from now on when brunch happens at my place, I’ll be serving smoothie flights, including all the delicious smoothie combinations I can think of for everyone to try all (and reap their nutritional benefits, too).
